Shuaiba Port

Kuwait’s Shuaiba Port is the country’s second-largest port. Platforms for managing commercial traffic, containers, and oil products are all included. Kuwait National Petroleum Company is in charge of this facility. There are 20 berths at the port with depths ranging from 10 to 14 meters. Containers are handled at four of these berths. The oil dock is 16 meters deep in the ocean. At the port, there are two small seacraft and barge basins.

Shuwaikh Port

Kuwait’s main commercial port, Shuwaikh port, is located in the city of Shuwaikh. It has 21 berths, 14 of which are 10 meters deep, four of which are 8.5 meters deep, and three of which are 6.7 meters deep.  This navigation channel located inside the Kuwait bay is approximately 8 kilometers long and 8.5 meters deep at low water levels. The port can accommodate ships with a draft of 7.5 meters at any tide, and ships with a draft of 9.6 meters at high tide.

Rules & Regulations

Importing goods into Kuwait is largely regulated by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The regulations require that all imports into Kuwait are accompanied by a valid import license, issued by the Ministry. Furthermore, the imported goods must comply with Kuwaiti customs regulations, including the payment of applicable fees and taxes, as well as other relevant government regulations.

1. Import License: All imported goods must be accompanied by an import license, issued by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The license must be obtained from the Ministry‘s office in Kuwait City.

2. Customs Regulations: Imported goods must comply with the Kuwaiti customs regulations, including the payment of applicable fees and taxes. These regulations are outlined in the Kuwaiti Customs Law and in the Kuwaiti Unified Customs Tariff.

3. Labeling Requirements: All imported goods must be labeled in accordance with the Kuwaiti labeling regulations. These regulations include the requirement to provide product information and warnings in Arabic, as well as the labeling of the country of origin and of the product‘s net weight or volume.

4. Quarantine: All imported goods must be inspected and cleared by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health. This includes a mandatory quarantine period, during which the goods are inspected for compliance with Kuwaiti health and safety regulations.

5. Inspection Certificate: All imported goods must be accompanied by an inspection certificate, issued by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Health. This certificate must indicate that the goods have been inspected and cleared for importation into Kuwait.

6. Taxes and Duties: Imported goods are subject to the payment of applicable taxes and duties. These taxes and duties are outlined in the Kuwaiti Unified Customs Tariff.
